Step 2:Â Compassion
The second step in our 4Steps™ approach allows us to acquire the necessary skill of compassion. What is compassion? It is the skill of recognizing our emotions and being kind and helpful toward ourselves while we learn to navigate our challenges.
Becoming compassionate is necessary because as we become more aware of what is going on we can become very judgemental of ourselves. This judgment is not helpful and causes us to remain stuck and unmotivated to move forward. When we acknowledge our emotions and remind ourselves to be kind and helpful it allows us to think more clearly. It also gives us space to try different paths that will allow us to move forward in a more wholesome manner.
With practice, we can build this compassion skill.
