Intro Course Introduction Course Intro: What is Optimistic Re-Framing?

Step 4:  Optimistic Re-Framing

The fourth step in our 4Steps™ approach allows us to acquire the necessary skill of re-framing our beliefs to something more reasonable and balanced.  When we gain more insight into our active beliefs that are causing our feelings and emotions, we can question them for their accuracy, applicability etc.

Re-framing is not about coming up with fantastical beliefs that we cling to in a desperate way.  It is about being reasonable and balanced.  It is very helpful to start slowly and work your way up the optimistic ladder to more optimistic beliefs as you progress.

As our active beliefs shift so do our feelings and emotions.  It does take time to re-frame our beliefs because we likely have been repeating them to ourselves for many years.  Be patient and kind.

With practice, we can build this optimistic re-framing skill.
