Affirmations are a great way to shift your beliefs to something more reasonable and balanced. Shifting your beliefs shifts how you feel. Balanced feelings then translate into balanced decisions and actions, and it’s a natural progression.
The neuroscience is clear. What we pay attention to regularly changes the structure of our brain, and those thought patterns become more automatic. It may take some time for the new way of thinking to take hold, but it will. Be patient and kind to yourself.
The audio files will guide you through 3 different affirming prompts, each lasting 3 minutes. You will be reciting or repeating these affirmations over and over again. There is no need to rush through these statements. Be gentle, kind, and steady.
All affirmation practices can be conducted in a variety of ways.
- Meditation Affirmations: Sit and close your eyes or gaze at the floor in front of you. Gently follow the guide and recite the affirming statements quietly to yourself over and over again.
- Writing Affirmations: Write the affirmations over and over again on a sheet of paper or in your journaling book.
- Mirror Affirmations: Look at yourself in the mirror and say these affirmations to yourself over and over again.
- Inner Child Affirmations: Address these affirmations to your inner child. Look at a picture of yourself as a child, look in the mirror or simply meditate and say these affirmations to your hurt inner child.
With practice and repetition, these new beliefs will begin to take hold. In fact, new neural pathways will be created in your brain, and that is a process called neuroplasticity. It may take some time because most of us have been repeating the same negative stories to ourselves for many years. Consistency and regularity is the key.
You can say any affirmations you want, but it’s best to make incremental in nature. That is to say, start off slowly and gradually build a more positive outlook. We call this working your way up the Optimistic Ladder.
We have created a selection of affirmation exercises, but feel free to use your own affirmation to address your specific needs.
Practicing consistently is the key to mastering new skills.
