Meditations: Self Compassion
About Self Compassion Meditations
Self-compassion allows us to see our experiences, ourselves and others with greater kindness and curiosity. We see our challenging experiences in the light of a “common humanity”. We recognize what is going on around us and within us. We then remind ourselves that we are all in this together and that many people have the same challenges as I am having right now. We allow ourselves to just be with an experience. This opens up space to allow us to accept where we currently are, and that allows us the trust ourselves to move forward.
Self-compassion builds resiliency which allows us to handle the twists and turns of life with greater ease.
Note: In the Sleep Aid Meditation, we removed the ending gong so you can use it as a sleep aid, and it will not wake you up when it finishes.
About Micro Practices
In your everyday life, you can use what you have learned in your meditation practice by noticing how you are feeling, refocusing on what is present and conducting a three-breath practice. You can do these as many times as you want throughout your day. They are a great way to remind yourself of your learning and growing. Best of all, they take less than a minute to do.
Practice this micro exercise throughout your day…
- Breathe to center yourself on your breath.
- Breathe to remind yourself of the common humanity – many people experience challenges like this.
- Breathe to regain focus in the present moment and remind yourself that you can trust your abilities.
Practicing consistently is the key to mastering new skills.
